  • What should I wear?

Please come dressed in athletic wear, t-shirts and shorts are ideal.

  • What happens during my first visit?

On your first visit, I will discuss your symptoms and health history in detail. Please begin thinking about any injuries, surgeries, concussions, and other physical traumas you’ve had in your life. We frequently find injuries or scars that are decades old as root causes of present symptoms. I then proceed to a static postural assessment, movement assessment, record your walking for video analysis and then start the treatment, which will be an integrated approach between soft tissue release and movement. Your first session may last up to 2 hours. Your health history is the most import piece of your puzzle in relation to your pain or performance.

  • How am I different from other therapist?

Most other forms of therapy are symptom based, whereas I am able to identify and correct the root cause of your pain and discomfort. How often have you gone to other therapist and told to lie on the table and they start to treat your site of pain, with no health history or movement assessment taken in detail before hand!  To you it feels good at that time, but the next week or even day that nagging pain is back again, WHY? That therapist treated your symptom not the cause, has this ever happened to you before?

  • How many visits should I expect?

I am very upfront and honest with you from the start.   For example the longer the issue has been present, the more visits it may take. If you have been suffering from a problem for 10 years, or if that problem is related to chronic habits such as sitting at a desk with poor posture all day, then more visits may be required. If the problem is relatively new or the result of some unusual occurrence, then fewer visits are typical. Having said that, most people notice improvement after just one visit. We average 3-5 visits to adequately resolve most issues.

  • Are sessions painful?

We want your body to move away from pain, not to create it. “ No pain no gain” metaphor does not apply at OptimumBody.ie

  • How long do sessions last?

Each session is 90 min long.  Your first session may go over the 90min, but no extra charge will occur.

  • Can I claim with my insurance?

OptimumBody.ie is registered with the Association of Neuromuscular Physical Therapists.  This entitles you to claim a percentage of the fee against your health insurance. Click on the link to find the details. All sessions will fall under this umbrella.
